Position:

Share Our Strength is currently seeking a talented and experienced HR Generalist to manage all aspects of the human resources function for this growing organization with staff in 10 states.  A newly created position, the HR Generalist will build on existing systems and lead the development and implementation of new processes and systems across all areas of human resources, including recruiting and hiring, onboarding and orientation, staff development and performance management, payroll and benefits, and compliance and record-keeping.  Reporting to and working closely with the Chief Financial Officer, the HR Generalist will interact frequently with the senior management team to make recommendations and report progress on human resources projects.

Responsibilities:

• Build and facilitate a robust hiring process including incoming staff training and orientation.
• Assess each department’s training and development needs and work with department heads to implement appropriate training.  With management, develop and oversee implementation of career paths that allow valued employees to advance within the organization.
• Ensure that Share Our Strength differentiates and rewards staff performance appropriately by improving the annual review/performance management process.
• Build process and consistency around newly-established salary level system.  Bring titling into line with salary levels over time.
• Review benefits package annually.  Select and manage benefits vendors, reviewing benefits package annually, and serve as liaison to staff on benefits-related topics.
• Develop and assist managers in implementing a consistent separation process (both voluntary and involuntary).
• Review all Share Our Strength employee policies and revise as appropriate.
• Manage relationship with payroll vendor (currently ADP), and direct the Office Manager and Accounting staff to ensure that payroll is executed properly, including administration of hiring, termination, and leave. 
• Ensure regulatory compliance for all aspects of HR: payroll taxes, unemployment insurance, worker’s comp, exempt/non-exempt status, COBRA, FMLA, etc. and determine best method to support IRS, lobbying, and grant compliance disclosure requirements.
• Overhaul HR recordkeeping standards and direct Office Manager in the implementation of recordkeeping.
• Serve as an advisor to staff in problem solving and conflict resolution.

Qualifications:

• Several years of experience in a human resources position in an entrepreneurial small business or nonprofit environment
• Familiarity with or ability to quickly learn all aspects of the HR function, including recruiting and hiring, staff management and development, compensation and benefits, and compliance
• Ability to work well and communicate effectively with others; demonstrated success serving multiple constituencies
• Demonstrated success managing multiple vendor relationships
• Ability to work quickly and skillfully in a team-driven environment, as well as on independent assignments
• Outstanding project management skills and ability to move multiple initiatives forward on ambitious timelines
• Ability to handle shifting priorities, analyze available information to aid decision making, and move seamlessly between multiple prioritized tasks and functions
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
