Position:
Get Schooled Foundation is seeking an innovative and creative Digital Communications Manager to develop and manage effective, cutting-edge strategies to harness the power of online and social media to engage youth and their communities around critical needs in education. With primary responsibility for managing the overall online and social-media presence of Get Schooled, the Digital Communications Manager will create and implement an online communications strategy both to increase the visibility of Get Schooled, and to directly engage youth as a key part of the organization’s programmatic impact. This is a great opportunity for a dynamic and entrepreneurial individual with a love of pop culture to positively influence education in this country by overseeing the continuous creation of content for the website, and designing and implementing innovative, effective ideas for using social media as a high-impact engagement tool.
Responsibilities:
- Manage ongoing design and development of all web and social media outlets for Get Schooled, including website and social media to support overarching programmatic and communication initiatives
- Develop innovative strategies to combine social media and Get Schooled’s website to leverage the power of celebrity and pop culture to engage youth and impact critical issues in education
- Contribute to the creative development of the website, including writing and updating content, and working with outside contractors on development of a new site and engagement tools, as well as creative integration of social media into the site
- Integrate web, social media and mobile platforms to strengthen experience and connection with the end user
- Work closely with external partners to integrate appropriate content into the digital sites
- Collaborate with the Director of Analytics to track impact of strategies and tools, and to refine approach as needed
- Understand and adhere to all federal regulations, including COPPA
Qualifications:
- At least 3 years of experience designing and implementing online communications strategies, including extensive experience managing social media outreach
- Strong belief in the power of pop culture to positively influence youth and education in this country, and a creative vision for how to use online and social media to leverage that power.
- Superior project management ability, organization skills
- Familiarity with website design; ability to manage contractors on overhaul and update content
- Proven ability to execute a complex plan; some experience with start-up organizations preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
