Position:

The Development & Communications Coordinator is an integral part of the EdVestors’ two-person development team.  Reporting to the Director of Philanthropic Services, the Coordinator will be responsible for the daily administrative management of EdVestors’ donor and prospect stewardship, special events, and communications.  The Coordinator will play an important role in raising over $2 million annually to support EdVestors’ education grantmaking activities and operations and advancing efforts to improve urban education in the City of Boston. 

Responsibilities:

Development:
• Assist with planning, coordination, and execution of special events that include the annual School on the Move Prize Presentation/Gala and the Urban Education Investment Showcase – as well as a number of smaller donor education forums and cultivation events. 
• Draft and edit concept papers and full proposals to prospective donors, foundations, and corporations as well as interim/final reports to current donors. 
• Use the internet and other methods to identify and research foundations and potential donors.
• Maintain development database (SAGE), assist with the tracking and reporting of donor activities, and maintain donor and development filing system.
• Assist in the financial record keeping related to incoming donor funds and events – including reports required for audit purposes, gift processing, and acknowledgement. 
• Support the development team with administrative duties including scheduling appointments and meetings, handling incoming donor calls and email requests, preparing materials for donor meetings, etc. 
Communications:
• Take a lead role in the development, research, writing, and production of a variety of publications, including electronic newsletters, donor and prospect mailings, and the design and printing of collateral materials.
• Manage and regularly update the content of the organizational website.
• Provide editorial and basic design assistance to staff as needed.
• Collaborate with other staff to implement and continuously refine a communications strategy that supports and elevates the work of the organization.
• Assist with media relations for special events, issue briefings, and grant announcements.
• Create PowerPoint presentations as necessary.

Qualifications:

• 2-3 years of related work experience preferred.
• Passion for education and an interest in EdVestors work preferred.
• Superior organizational skills and detail orientation, and ability to see projects through to completion.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
• Strong database management skills; knowledge of Sage or other fundraising software a plus.
• Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Strong knowledge of web site editing software and electronic communications (Constant Contact); HTML knowledge a plus.
• Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a growing entrepreneurial, mission driven team.
• Strong sense of initiative, with the ability to make decisions about how to manage and organize own workload, juggle multiple assignments, and meet deadlines.
• Mature interpersonal style with ability to interact well with a diverse range of people.
• Enthusiasm, sense of humor and positive attitude.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
