With the support of individual investors and our signature partner, Monitor Group, New Profit works with social entrepreneur-led organizations tackling persistent social problems in education, workforce development, public health, and other areas.  New Profit also drives other initiatives to help scale social innovations, including the annual Gathering of Leaders, America Forward, and Urban Assets.  We believe that just as entrepreneurship and invention have driven our nation’s progress, so too can we harness America’s spirit of innovation, vision, and optimism to help solve our most pressing social problems.

Position:

New Profit is seeking an energetic and passionate individual to join the development team as the Development Assistant.  The Development Assistant will provide administrative support to New Profit’s Chief Development Officer and senior development staff.  In addition, he/she will play an integral role in ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of the department within a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, requiring the ongoing coordination, management, and development of the department’s internal systems and functions.  The Development Assistant will also be responsible for special projects related to investor relations, fundraising, and communications activities.  This position is critical to our ability to successfully achieve our development goals and offers exposure to all facets of the organization and New Profit’s work.

Responsibilities:

Administrative support for Chief Development Officer and senior development team staff
- Complex calendar management including coordinating scheduling and logistics for internal and external meetings
- Coordinate and oversee travel arrangements
- Provide support in preparation and follow up for internal and external meetings (including filing, communications, materials, etc.)
- Ongoing management, creation, and dissemination of correspondence including drafting, editing, and proofing letters, memos, and emails
- Process receipts for reimbursement and tracking

Fundraising and investor relations systems and projects
- Database management and maintenance, including updating contact information, logging investor and prospect meeting details and communications, and producing weekly opportunity reports
- Support collateral development including investor newsletters and gift acknowledgments
- Manage regular communications and collateral distribution (e.g., New Profit’s Annual Report) and other mailings (e.g., annual appeal) to the investor community including generating recipient lists, letter writing, mail merges, and assembly
- Support prospect research
- Provide event support including coordinating event logistics, assisting with invitation and materials design and assembly, and program development
- Support annual investor survey creation and distribution

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree and 1+ years of professional experience; experience providing administrative support preferred
• Superior organizational skills and detail-orientation
• Unwaveringly high levels of customer-service orientation
• Ability to juggle multiple projects and drive toward deadlines
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• High level of maturity, professionalism, poise, and excellent judgment required
• Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a growing, entrepreneurial, mission driven team
• Comfort with ambiguity and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
• Experience working with databases required; experience with Salesforce.com preferred
• Command of Microsoft Office programs, specifically Word, EXCEL, and PowerPoint
• Commitment to New Profit’s mission, social entrepreneurship, and social change
