Position:
Verite is seeking a smart, motivated, and highly organized communications professional to assume a newly created position of Communications Manager. An integral member of Verite’s team, the Communications Manager will work closely with the Verite staff to support the organization’s mission and strategic communications goals. An exceptional writer and creative thinker, the Communications Manager will be knowledgeable about print collateral development and design, emerging technologies, and website organization, and be capable of responding to a wide range of requests for content creation and revision, working with both internal staff and external vendors to create compelling collateral materials, a high-quality website, and a vibrant social media presence. The Communications Manager will also have the opportunity to play a role in developing and executing business strategies to help commercialize some of their existing projects.
Responsibilities:
The Communications Manager will support a wide range of ongoing communications activities including, but not limited to: content creation, collateral production, writing and editing, media relations, and print management.
- Support all communications activities including Verite’s publications, communications operations, and online presence
- Work with the communications team and external vendors to develop a range of print and online materials, and multimedia to support communications strategy; ensure brand consistency across all channels
- Write, edit, and/or proofread content for print materials and online; update and maintain content on Verite’s websites; help maintain Verite’s social media presence and contribute to efforts to expand onto other social media platforms
- Help to facilitate and ensure integration between online communications and traditional print collateral; ensure that materials are translated into other languages as necessary
- Stay current in communications best practices, supporting evaluation and implementation of new technology, features, and platforms; analyze performance of Verite’s websites and other communications activities.
- Serve as primary point of contact for all inquiries regarding websites, including requests for changes and reports on errors, troubleshooting, and resolving website issues
- Manage regular planning and design meetings, including setting meeting agendas and documenting meetings; create detailed work plans incorporating all team members
- Create and disseminate reports of data to relevant stakeholders, working with the communications team to create and implement tactics to improve outcomes
- Ensure that all sales staff and relationship manages at Verite are briefed and armed with targeted information about new prospects
- Keep abreast of all conferences and potential speaking engagements that should be on Verite’s radar and ensure that the appropriate staff members are made aware of upcoming activities along those lines
- Support media relations by overseeing daily media monitoring efforts
Qualifications:
- At least three years of professional experience in marketing/communications
- Exceptional original writing skills, including the ability to synthesize and improve existing written material, keen editorial judgment, and the ability to write for different audiences and delivery channels (print, websites, social media, etc.) to effectively communicate Verite’s mission, impact, and value proposition to a wide range of stakeholders
- Superior attention to detail; ability to serve as a steward of quality for all external communications for Verite
- Excellent project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple, detailed projects while driving toward deadlines
- Strong management skills with the ability to manage up and laterally, capable of organizing and mobilizing a cross-functional team toward completion of projects
- Creative thinking with the ability to identify innovative ways to communicate and engage audiences through a variety of avenues
- Unwavering commitment to service and customer orientation

- High level of interpersonal maturity, poise, and judgment

- Broad understanding of, and willingness to stay abreast of new media technologies, applications, and processes
- Command of Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Proficiency in HTML desirable; digital audio/video capture, and editing skills a plus
- Exposure to Publisher or Adobe a plus
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required
