Hyde Leadership Charter School recently expanded its reach to positively impact more students and now employs over 200 staff and serves 900 students. The school also expanded its reach by building a brand new high school facility to complement its current co-located space in the South Bronx.
Position:
Hyde Leadership Charter School is seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to manage the day-to-day operations of the school. Reporting to the Head of School and serving as a member of the senior leadership teams, the COO will be responsible for ensuring excellent leadership across the financial, operational, and organizational planning functions as well as contributing to the strategic direction of the organization. This position is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional to have tremendous impact in the educational sector with a results-oriented, top-performing charter school in the South Bronx.
Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership for all aspects of the organizations’ financial management, including all fiscal reporting activities for the organization while expanding upon analysis capabilities to support decision-making and improve performance
- Provide support and guidance to the Head of School and the Board of Directors in all matters related to financial management
- Ensure accurate and timely information-sharing with internal stakeholders and compliance with the standards and reporting requirements of external stakeholders, including auditors, donors, foundations and other relevant entities
- Manage all outsourced vendor relationships and facilities needs for the organizations
- Oversee the human resources function, including the development and implementation of effective hiring, compensation, benefits, training and professional development systems and policies
- Manage organizational information technology planning, development and operations
- Oversee a small staff and ensure a highly productive and cohesive team environment
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of senior level management experience in operations, finance and administration, preferably within a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment; direct experience with nonprofit or school-based finance accounting a plus
- Demonstrated success in effectively leading staff to develop and implement systems and processes to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of a growing organization
- Flexibility combined with the ability to multi-task; comfort working in a fast-paced and growing organization, while also driving toward clarity and solutions
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a wide range of audiences
- Commitment to the mission of Hyde Leadership Charter School and the community of the South Bronx
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; Master’s degree in business, non-profit management or related field preferred
