Overview:
The District Management Council (DMC) is a fast-growing, entrepreneurial organization that supports CEO’s of public school districts as they seek to dramatically improve public education through helping them identify and implement management best practices. DMC’s work falls into three major buckets: consulting, leadership events and best practices. Utilizing these three avenues, we serve primarily the largest 2,000 school districts in the nation, some of whom serve more than 1 million students and manage over a billion dollars in annual budgets. Additionally, District and Community Partners, which is a division of DMC, is recognized as being on the leading edge in improving achievement of students with special needs.

Position:
The District Management Council is currently seeking a smart, dynamic, nice and analytical consultant to join their growing team. Reporting to the Managing Director, the Consultant will work closely with school district leaders, oversee the collection and analysis of data, assist in the presentation of key findings and recommendations, and participate in the development of tools and training programs that support the implementation of those recommendations for school districts across the country.
Responsibilities:
- Cultivate, build, and manage strong client relationships based on trust, communication, and a commitment to service excellence
- Support client engagements by collecting data, pursuing appropriate paths of analysis, developing key recommendations, and supporting the presentation of findings to clients
- Ensure that clients fully understand assessment results, demonstrating patience, empathy, and an appreciation for organizational dynamics and the barriers to change and improvement that exist in schools across the country
- Conduct primary and secondary research to expand our library of district case studies, best practices and rigorous analytical frameworks designed specifically for school districts
- Work collaboratively with internal staff to ensure the continued growth and effectiveness of DMC’s programs
Qualifications:
- Minimum of two years of experience at a management or strategy consulting firm
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA strongly preferred
- Experience with and/or strong interest in education and education reform
- Superior analytical skills; demonstrated ability to quickly assess situations, identify trends, develop solutions, and translate and apply insights and learnings to the larger context
- Experience developing and managing client relationships with responsibility for deliverables and presentations
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Ability to accommodate travel approximately 30% time
