KIPP NYC is the family of all KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program) programming in New York City and includes four KIPP public middle schools (KIPP Academy, KIPP STAR, KIPP AMP, and KIPP Infinity) designed to teach students to develop the academic and character skills necessary for success in high school and college, to be self-sufficient in the competitive world and beyond, and to build a better tomorrow for themselves and all of us.  KIPP NYC also runs a comprehensive advocacy program for alumni titled KIPP to College. 

In a stage of continued growth, KIPP NYC is developing plans to open a high school and four elementary schools in New York City beginning in 2009.  KIPP NYC currently serves over 1,400 KIPP students and alumni, employs over 130 remarkably talented and fun people, and has a combined operating budget of nearly $16 million.

Position:

KIPP NYC is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Recruitment and Talent Development to further develop and oversee the creation, maintenance and continuous improvement of a comprehensive recruitment and talent development strategy.  Reporting to the Managing Director of Finance and HR and working closely with the Director of Human Resources, the Director of Recruitment and Talent Development will supervise two Talent Recruiters.  This position will be a critical part of the Shared Services Team (comprising Development, Operations, Finance, HR and Technology). 

Responsibilities:

• Serve as thought leader on the Shared Services Team on all issues related to talent recruitment, growth, and retention
• Manage two Talent Recruiters and collaborate with them to develop and implement a creative, competitive, and cost-effective approach for recruiting diverse, high-quality talent for all schools and programs
• Oversee the creation of KIPP NYC’s compensation function by managing position description development and making salary recommendations
• Develop and implement a talent strategy for supporting long-term growth, including effective organizational staffing and succession planning
• Partner with Program Leaders and Superintendent to build a comprehensive program for professional development and retention of all staff, including, but not limited to, strategies for staff training, leadership development, career paths, and staff retention
• In coordination with Director of Human Resources, develop and implement organization-wide performance evaluation and professional development policies; work closely with senior leaders within the organization to ensure proper training and execution

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience in recruitment, talent development, and/or human resources in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment
• Experience creating a long-term strategic recruiting plan in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
• Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail; strong written and oral communication skills
• Extreme flexibility, with a strong work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit to accommodate high level of responsibility and multiple priorities
• Passionate commitment to KIPP NYC’s mission
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience required
